Luke and Belinda McCarthy have the score on the board when it comes to harness racing.
Together they have trained more than 1000 winners and have a long list of Group and feature race wins, with their earnings listed at more than $16 million.
Luke started driving at the age of 16, and has annexed multiple driving and training premierships.
Belinda, who started training in 2002, has prepared in excess of 600 winners, with her career including Grand Circuit wins in the Miracle Mile (Baby Bling), Victoria Cup (For A Reason), as well as string of Group One's such as the Breeders Crown (2YO C&G - Bling It On) and APG Final (2YO C&G - Lettucerockthem) and the 2015 Lexus Medal.
With diversifying their business, Luke and Belinda are still at the forefront of horse operations and have linked with long-time family member Craig ‘Rowley’ Cross, who has taken over the training part of the business.
Craig, who has worked with horses since the age of 13, is a well-established horseman in every facet of the business who has worked with Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds.
Craig has learned from and worked with the nation’s best farriers, and is an expert in this field.
He is also a great horse trainer and educator, having learned from some horse industry bywords, some including David Aiken, Charlie Parsons, Vinney & Bob Knight, Jack Honan (Killarney Stud), Golden Gait Stud’s Wayne and Anne Lamb and John and Mary Gibson at Success Stud, before joining the McCarthys in 2013.
Trots TV spent a day at the McCarthy property on the outskirts of Sydney and spoke in depth with Luke and Belinda about their careers, childhood and future plans.
