The strength of Cobbitty Equine Farm’s stallion roster will be on full display at Menangle this weekend, with progeny of Cobbitty Equine-based sires accounting for seven runners across the APG 2YO Fillies and Colts & Geldings Finals.
In the Fillies Final, King Of Swing, Ultimate Machete and Bettors Wish are represented through Swinging Queen, Peachesncream and Sophies Wish, while in the Colts & Geldings Final, four of the six runners are by Cobbitty Equine stallions.
Leading the charge is exciting first-crop sire King Of Swing, whose son Lochinvar Jazz lines up in the Colts & Geldings Final while daughter Swinging Queen takes her place in the Fillies feature. For a young sire in the early stages of his stud career, having finalists in both divisions is a significant achievement and a promising sign of what lies ahead.
Dual representation in the Colts & Geldings Final comes for Huntsville, with Don Hunter and Our Main Man both earning their spots in the rich feature. Don Hunter has already established himself as one of the standout juveniles of the season and will carry the hopes of breeders Phil and Denise Thurston of Celestial Standardbreds. In an extraordinary achievement, the Thurstons also bred fellow finalist Lochinvar Jazz, meaning they are responsible for two runners in the APG Colts & Geldings Final – a huge feat and a testament to them.
Also representing the Cobbitty Equine roster is Wicked Motion, a son of McWicked, while Peachesncream gives Ultimate Machete a live chance in the Fillies Final after a very exciting and impressive Prelude victory.
Sophies Wish, by Bettors Wish, adds further depth to the Cobbitty Equine contingent. The filly has already built an impressive race record and continues to fly the flag for one of North America’s most exciting young stallions.
To have progeny of King Of Swing, Huntsville, McWicked, Ultimate Machete and Bettors Wish all represented on one of juvenile racing’s biggest stages is a tremendous endorsement of the confidence breeders have shown in the Cobbitty Equine stallion roster.
