For A Reason crowned 2025 NSW Stallion of the Year

Nearly a decade on from helping launch the Cobbitty Equine Farm operation, For A Reason has once again been crowned NSW Stallion of the Year, securing the title for the sixth time following previous wins in 2017/18, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Often described as one of the best value-for-money stallions available, For A Reason has continued to earn tremendous support from breeders year after year through his consistency, reliability and results both in the breeding barn and on the racetrack.

“Frank” has always managed to match it with the big boys and continues to hold his own on the sire leaderboards year after year, despite covering significantly smaller books than many of the larger commercial stallions. His ability to consistently produce results off limited opportunities is a credit to himself and his progeny.

Adding further strength to his profile is the incredible family he stems from. For A Reason is closely related to two of Australasia’s biggest stars in Leap To Fame and Swayzee, further highlighting the depth and quality of the bloodlines behind him.

This past season alone he achieved a remarkable 94% early pregnancy rate, further reinforcing his reputation as a stallion that simply gets the job done. Breeders and veterinarians alike continue to praise his fertility and consistency season after season.

On the track, his progeny continue to fly the flag in every state and are known as the perfect bread and butter horses – tough, durable and consistent performers week in and week out.

The statistics behind the stallion continue to speak for themselves, with his progeny producing more than $11.6 million in prizemoney. For A Reason is now the sire of 222 individual winners with an outstanding 74% winners-to-starters strike rate, while average earnings nearing $39,000 per starter represent almost 18 times his service fee.

From the breeding barn to the sales ring and racetrack, For A Reason continues to deliver for breeders at every level. His yearlings remain in strong demand, consistently averaging more than ten times his service fee at sale.

Nearly ten years on from helping establish our operation, our “Frank” continues to do what he has always done: deliver results season after season.
