Huntsville Headlines Another Big Week in the New York Sire Stakes
Published on:

Huntsville continues to cement his reputation as one of North America’s most consistent young pacing sires, with another standout week in the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) and Excelsior Series across multiple age groups and venues.

Trifecta – 2YO COLTS & GELDINGS

At Monticello Raceway on Monday afternoon, Huntsville’s two-year-olds delivered a powerful reminder of his ability to produce early speed and precocious types. Hunt Off The Press took out his division of the NYSS for 2YO colts and geldings in convincing style, leading home a Huntsville trifecta with Fragment and Lakewood Nick filling the placings.

Fragment, already a name to watch this season, boasts three NYSS division wins to his credit so far and continues to fly the flag for Huntsville’s depth among the freshman class.

First Four – 3YO FILLIES

A few days earlier, the results spoke just as loudly at Batavia Downs, where Huntsville’s three-year-old fillies made a clean sweep of the $121,800 NYSS division. The Last Martini was the standout winner, backed up by Send It Down Slim, Strutsville, and Cowgirl Hanover – completing a remarkable first-four finish for the sire.

Quinella – 3YO FILLIES

The same meeting also saw Huntsville feature prominently in the New York Excelsior Series for three-year-old pacing fillies, where he produced the quinella with Bronx Mixer and Martini Star finishing one–two.

These results come as no surprise to those following Huntsville’s trajectory. A son of Somebeachsomewhere from the Artsplace mare Wild West Show, Huntsville was a top-tier racehorse himself, banking over $1.7 million and defeating the best of his generation. Now, as a sire, he’s proving just as effective – consistently delivering tough, fast, commercially appealing stock.

By the numbers, Huntsville is leading the pack.

As of July 2025, in North America, Huntsville is:

  • The leading money-winning sire of both two-year-old and three-year-old pacers.
  • The #1 sire by average earnings per foal among two-year-olds, and #2 for three-year-olds.

Whether you’re breeding for performance, precocity or commercial appeal – Huntsville is delivering on all fronts.

Huntsville is available this season via frozen semen to Australian and New Zealand breeders.
