Expensive Ego delivered what is now becoming a customary performance by the entire when winning a heat of the Inter Dominion at Newcastle tonight in stylish fashion.

He went to the line with ease after an early burn clocking the 2030m qualifier in 1:54.3.

The son of Rock N Roll Heaven continues to surprise driver Luke McCarthy.

“He was super,” said McCarthy.

“He had to really burn to be where he had to be.

“He was just awesome, I didn’t even pull the blinds.”

Expensive Ego has gone through all Inter Dominion qualifying heats undefeated.

Starting from gate three after a scratching drawn on his inside, Expensive Ego was parked three-wide for some time before eventually finding the lead.

Once at the top, the pressure did not ease with Our Uncle Sam making a mid-race move to sit outside the leader.

The quarters were 27.7, 31.5, 28.8 and 27.2 seconds.

Expensive Ego is trained by Belinda McCarthy who also won an Inter Dominion heat earlier in the night with King Of Swing.
