3YO Breeders Crown Final
Matron Stakes
“Heston was an incredible horse with a big beautiful gait that could get around all size tracks, was a kitten to drive and could race on the front or off the pace. He was slick off the gate and loved to win races. He was just a great horse.”– Driver, Tim Tetrick.
Heston Blue Chip is a champion son of American Ideal and is the first foal out of Shot Togo Bluechip and a full brother to millionaire Sunfire Blue Chip. His racing career saw him earn over $1.7 million with multiple stakes wins and a USTA Dan Patch Award at age three.
Heston Blue Chip’s racing career hit the ground at full speed as a two-year-old winning eleven of thirteen starts and two seconds including seven New York Sire Stakes events and the Matron Final at Dover Downs. It was his three-year-old season however, that Heston Blue Chip really stamped himself as a true force in the sport winning over one million dollars in stakes for his three-year-old season with fourteen wins from eighteen starts.
After a few New York Sire Stakes wins to kick off his sophomore campaign, Heston Blue Chip was set to take on Grand Circuit competition. After a winning performance in the Meadowlands Pace Elimination in 1:49 flat, Heston Blue Chip finished a closing fourth in one of the deepest fields in Pace history (A Rocknroll Dance, Sweet Lou, Thinking Out Loud, Pet Rock etc). He would avenge that loss later in the year with victories in the Breeders Crown elimination and final at Woodbine. He also went on to win the Progress Pace and the Matron Final in a career best time of 1:48.0 for the second straight year. Heston set four track records and won the prestigious Dan Patch award as the three-year-old colt of the year in America against a very tough crop.
Heston Blue Chip was proved to be wonderfully versatile, but his chief asset was his dazzling early speed and he has set the pace in most of his wins — at Yonkers, the Meadowlands, Vernon Downs, Woodbine, Harrah’s Philadelphia, Saratoga Raceway and Dover Downs. He was a faultless pacer who wore no boots and was considered a true gentleman of the sport.
“In his Breeders Crown win, he beat the best of the best including Sweet Lou. If that isn’t enough, he’s one of the kindest, nicest and happiest horses I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. He’s great gaited, wore no boots, and a 63” hopple,” said Linda Toscano – Trainer.
In Australia alone, Heston Blue Chip has sired 124 starters for 101 winners with over $4.5 million in stakes and is the sire of over 20 winners in 1:55.0 and 11 earners of over $100,000 in stakes. Heston Blue Chip has an incredible 81% starters to winners percentage in Australia, without even counting the winners he has sired in the Northern Hemisphere.
