Confederate, added another accolade to his illustrious record on Sunday night at the Dan Patch Awards, where he was crowned the most prestigious award of the 2023 Horse of the Year.

- Three-Year-Old Colt Pacer of the Year
During the 2023 season, Confederate was victorious in 13 out of 15 races, amassing an impressive $1.63 million in earnings for that season alone. Apart from leading in prize money, Confederate set a new record as the fastest 3-year-old pacer in history, clocking an impressive 1:46.1 mile rate and was also the fastest horse of 2023.
Confederate’s wins included the Meadowlands Pace, Breeders Crown, Cane Pace, Max C. Hempt Memorial, and Kentucky Sire Stakes Championship Series final. After finishing second by a head in the North America Cup, he reeled off 11 consecutive victories, with nine of those wins secured by margins of two lengths or more.
Confederate was trained by Brett Pelling, driven by Tim Tetrick, owned by Diamond Creek Racing, and bred by Diamond Creek Farm. Diamond Creek Racing was honoured as the 2023 Owner of the Year while Diamond Creek Farm was the Breeder of the Year. A heartfelt congratulations to all involved on this remarkable triumph!
