It’s been a month of record’s, memorable moment’s and heartbreak …

Cobbitty Equine Farm sponsored Shetland Final

TAMWORTH MINI TROTTING CHAMPIONSHIPS

We packed our bags and headed to Tamworth, but with the ponies aboard the float this time. What a great weekend spent at our first State Mini Trotting Championships. We are so proud of our beautiful girls who had an absolute ball. The best part of the weekend was seeing all of the kids interact, help each other out and making new friends, as this is the future of our sport.

It’s a credit to the team behind the scenes that put this weekend on for the kids and a big shout out to everyone involved in organising the weekend, the committee, sponsors, parents, grandparents, family and helpers who all gave up their Easter weekend to put smiles on our kids faces. It was such a great weekend had by all.

It was a quiet month on the racing front, but the boy’s still kept the cylinders firing for the stable.

During the Easter Carnival at Wagga, Mach Shard set the track alight winning the Group 3 Wagga Cup in 1:49.7. With a gem of a drive by Jack Callaghan, the duo set a new track record and creating history in doing so, being the first sub 1:50 mile rate recorded at the new track and in the Riverina.

A stable favourite Cash N Flow, never seems to let us down …
Taking out his third consecutive Group Three Bill Green Bulli Cup. It was Cash N Flow’s 25th victory around Menangle but it is safe to say that this is one of his favourite races. The 9-year-old gave his rivals something to chase with closing quarters of 26.8 and 26.9, smashing the clock with a mile rate of 1.50.1.

Rock N Roll World USA

In other heartbreaking news, It is with great sadness that we announce our resident sire
Rock N Roll World has passed away last week after suffering a colic attack.
He joined us last year standing only his third season at Stud.
It is such a great loss for our Breeding Industry.

‘World’ will be dearly missed us all here at Cobbitty Equine Farm.

The progeny of our resident sires Bling It On and For A Reason are continuing to excel throughout Australia and it is so exciting to see the new crop of 2YO’s hit the track as well.

A standout race this month was a 2YO Maiden race in Queensland. The Bling It On sired,
Hold Onto Ya Bling picked up his first win but with an added bonus it was a Cobbitty Equine Farm sired quinella with the second place-getter sired by For A Reason,
For Real Life. Both connections are so pleased with how their 2YO’s are progressing. A quote from Scott Miller – co trainer of Hold Onto Ya Bling “He is a very professional guy, so lovely to have around the stables”.

Just two days later the stallion duo pulled through with another sired quinella, this time at Tamworth. Sharing the love For A Reason sired this winner, Uptotrix who impressively won by 16.8 metres and Cobla Royal taking second place who is sired by Bling It On.

Bling It On’s progeny are having great success all the way over in WA with 3 sired wins this month, Lethal Edition who won impressively at Gloucester Park in the 2YO Open recording his second lifetime win and Beyond Bling who has really hit his straps since arriving over in WA for trainer Bob Mellsop with 3 starts for 2 wins and a second place.

A big congratulations to the connections of Cherokee Joe who recorded two wins this month and picked up the Group Three $30,000 Country Clubs Championship Final at Tabcorp Park Melton for Jess Tubbs and Greg Sugars during the month. This added another Group winner to For A Reason’s sired progeny resume.

It was a memorable night for the 21-year-old Hannah Rixon when she recording her first Metro winner at Club Menangle aboard the on-fire For A Reason sired Gigi Bob. The mare is trained by Hannah’s father Peter Rixon and owned by her mother Cindy Rixon. It was a wonderful family occasion that reminds us what this sport is all about. The mile rate of 1:52.2 was a new personal best for Gigi Bob, lowering her previous fastest winning rate by more than five seconds. The duo have a great record together, recording 5 wins alone this season, Congratulations on this achievement Hannah!

The winner for APRIL is…
