His speed, class and competitive spirit were on full display as he claimed the prestigious Group 1 Chariots of Fire, before finishing runner-up in the $1 million Miracle Mile just weeks later against champion pacer King Of Swing. During the 2021 Inter Dominion Championship, Expensive Ego produced one of the most remarkable campaigns of the series. He completed a clean sweep of all three qualifying heats, winning over 1730 metres, 2030 metres and 2400 metres within eight days, demonstrating exceptional versatility, courage and the ability to continually back up against Australasia’s elite pacers.
Just six days later, he crossed the line first in the gruelling 3009-metre Inter Dominion Final, capping an extraordinary two-week campaign that perfectly encapsulated the qualities that defined his career – speed, versatility, toughness and an unwavering will to win.
