February was short but absolute jam packed month!

Early in the month we said goodbye to our boys – Capt Midnight and McWicked as they headed home to start their 2022 breeding season, with reports that Capt Midnight’s book is already full! As we wrap up our busiest breeding season to date, serving over 600 mares across Australia. We appreciate your support this season, our seven stallions received tremendous support from Breeders. We cannot thank you all enough!

We travelled to Victoria to quinella the Hunter Cup, that was an absolute thrill! King Of Swing added another Hunter Cup to his already stellar resume, becoming the first horse in history to win two Miracle Mile’s and two Hunter Cup’s! Spirit Of St Louis did us proud again by running second, an excellent finish to his amazing Victorian campaign.

With the lead up to the Miracle Mile next month, both King Of Swing and Spirit of St Louis took out the sprint qualifiers at Club Menangle and both breaking their PB in doing so. Expensive Ego got the wildcard invitation into the Miracle Mile, so we now have three runners to contend with and we are looking forward to what’s in store for the Miracle Mile.

We attended the NSW Harness Racing Awards night, bringing home multiple awards. King Of Swing was crowned Gallaghers Horse of the Year, also awarded NSW Aged Horse of the Year and TAB Aged Entire/Gelding Pacer of the Year. Bettor Enforce brought home the trophy for TAB Aged Mare Pacer of the Year and Muscle Factory won Club Menangle Pacer of the Year.

For A Reason was officially crowned the most prestigious award of NSW Stallion Of The Year. On behalf of our team at Cobbitty Equine Farm we would like to thank everyone for supporting our Stallions, particularly those who have supported For A Reason – we gratefully share this award with you all! And Bling It On sired the awarded NSW 2YO Filly of the Year ‘Madrid’.

Also a special mention to one of our favourite champion’s, Slipnslide who was inducted into the Queensland Harness Hall of Fame during the month. Thank you to Racing Queensland for this honor.

Madrid was crowned NSW 2YO Filly of the Year after an amazing 2YO season. The daughter of
Bling It On has started her 3YO campaign off with a bang. Having three race starts for the month
with two wins, a standout was when Madrid claimed the second heat of the NSW Oaks in a fast
mile rate of 1:54.2 for the 2400m. To then go on and claim second place in the Group One NSW
Oaks final the following week.

Over the month we watch the exciting revolution of a 2YO For A Reason starter, Satellite Simba.
Having three starts for the month and running second in his first two, Satellite Simba pulled through
with the win on his third lifetime start becoming For A Reason’s first 2YO winner for the new season.
