September Monthly Wrap

September Monthly Wrap
Published on:

This year we have continued to diversify and expand our business model and make improvements to best suit our client and industry needs.

This month we welcomed back Bling It On, For A Reason and McWicked to our stallion line up, and we also proudly welcomed four new stallions to our Farm. Our new stallions include; Capt Midnight, Jilliby Kung Fu, Lochinvar Art and Rock N Roll World. Our lineup offers breeders a wide variety of bloodlines and budgets to choose from.

Many breeders have been quick to book in their mares already, and I kindly remind everyone to complete their booking forms and send them back as soon as possible.

With the introduction of the 150 mare limit per stallion this season, we also remind breeders that spots are filling quickly! Please also let us know if your mare has lost her pregnancy or foal as these free returns are included in the 150 cap.

Our website www.cobbittyequine.com.au has all the details on each of our stallions and has access to our mare matching services such as Test Mating and Stallion Selector tools. We also have a shiny new brochure which we are more than happy to pop in the post if you have not received one as yet.

On the racing side, we have had a great month notching up winners at Menangle and Penrith, and look forward to next month where we see races such as the Pryde’s Easifeed Victorian Cup, Benstud Queen Of The Pacific, NSW Breeders Challenge Series and the Tabcorp Len Smith Mile.

Please do not hesitate to contact Luke or Belinda if you have any racing or breeding questions.

We hope October brings many more winners and look forward to seeing everyone’s lovely foal photos as well.

All the best from the team at Cobbitty Equine Farm.

For A Reason, affectionately known as “Frank”, is currently sitting second behind Bettors Delight on the NSW 3YO Sires Leader Board with 32 3YO winners for the season, we are so proud of him matching it with the big boys. Two of his geldings, Kashed up and Geldof, managed to both score not one but two wins each this month. Kashed Up took his lifetime earnings to over $126,000, with $75,000 in prize money this season alone, and Geldof’s two wins at Redcliffe took his earnings to over $100,000.

Bling It On, affectionately known as “Yank”, has made his way onto the NSW 2YO Sires Leader Board with his first crop! Sitting in seventh place, he has sired 10 individual winners thus far this season, including the impressive filly Madrid. The daughter of Bling It On, Madrid, is the equal fastest 2YO filly in Australia this season, clocking a sizzling 1:53.5 over 1609m. She has taken out the Group 3 APG Gold Sovereign 2YO Fillies final at Menangle and last week took out a heat of the NSW Breeders Challenge at Penrith. She is proving to be a very versatile and promising filly.

Another promising Bling It On winner this month, is another filly, called Finery. Finery took out hersecond lifetime win at Bathurst on the 22nd of September, which ironically was Cobbitty EquineFarm’s sponsored night at Bathurst Harness Racing Club. It is not just the girls who are putting Yank on the map. His gelding, Bling It Up, also notched up his second lifetime win at Bathurst earlier this month.

The month of September has seen “Frank” and “Yank” sire 9 individual winners from 29 individual starters and 21 placings.

A big congratulations to all connections of these winners…

With so many breeders supporting our stallions here at Cobbitty Equine Farm, we have decided to give back. For the next four months of the breeding season, one lucky winning breeder who breeds a winner by one of our stallions for that month will go into the draw to win a $100 Voucher to be used within the next two years at Cobbitty Equine Farm.

The winner for September is…

Gemma Hewitt

Gemma bred Kashed Up, sired by FOR A REASON. The 3yo Gelding, Kashed Up won two races from two starts in September.

While Bling It On and For A Reason have their progeny up and running, we eagerly await 2022 where we will see Jilliby Kung Fu’s first crop hit the race track. As yearlings they have broke in impressively with lovely relaxed natures and are very athletic types. A couple are already named and will be ready to race early next season.

Rock N Roll World continues to be well supported receiving books of 100 and over in his first two seasons at stud. His progeny are currently weanlings and will be yearlings in January. Owners continually acknowledge their intelligence, beautiful nature and strong frame.

All four stallions continue to receive great support from previous breeders – proving breeders are very pleased with their progeny.

McWicked is entering his second year at stud downunder after receiving a full book last season. His foals have hit the ground running – literally, with lovely long legs! Both fillies and colts alike are certainly stand outs in the paddock. He is also again receiving a strong book of mares this season which is great.

Capt Midnight and Lochinvar Art are both serving their first seasons in Australia.

Capt Midnight served a full book in America earlier this year and has been warmly welcomed this season with his book almost full.

Lochinvar Art has decided to join the breeding barn whilst rehabilitating for a race track return – so life isn’t too bad for him!

We have a stallion for every breeder and are happy to offer multiple mare discounts.

All the best for the breeding season!
