Like father, like son. World-record speed runs in the family.

Redland Rocket Man, a three-year-old son of Bulldog Hanover, produced a history-making performance at Woodbine Mohawk Park, scorching the mile in 1:46.4 to win the $140,000 Simcoe Stakes.

The performance equalled the world record for three-year-old pacing geldings, while establishing a new Canadian record, Woodbine Mohawk Park track record and Simcoe Stakes record.

Redland Rocket Man powered clear to defeat Sweet Lovin Lou by 1¾ lengths, with Beau Jangles third. His 1:46.4 mile took a full second off the previous Canadian and track record and smashed the previous Simcoe Stakes record of 1:48.2.

For a son of the fastest Standardbred of all time, it seems only fitting.

His major victories included the Breeders Crown, Canadian Pacing Derby and William R. Haughton Memorial, and his remarkable career has since been recognised with induction into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame.

Redland Rocket Man, bred by Redland Farms, is from Bulldog Hanover’s first crop and is out of Granny Hanover, a daughter of Captaintreacherous.

From just 54 foals in his first crop, Bulldog Hanover ranked second among North America’s rookie sires by average earnings.

A world-record holder himself, Bulldog Hanover is now producing world-record speed.
